Sarah Tarrant is HydroDog's Training Manager in Victoria. While running their own very successful HydroDog franchises, Sarah and other Training Managers around Australia, take prospective franchisees out on the field for an 'experience' day. This helps interested franchisees determine if HydroDog is the business for their future.
The intensive training program which is undertaken by all new Franchisees includes:
- How to operate all the equipment inside the mobile salon including the hydro bath, clippers etc;
- Procedures for keeping all equipment clean and in working order;
- The correct procedures for washing and drying;
- The correct procedures for cleaning nails and ears.

Clipping -
The different clips and blades to use and how to make correct selections of blades;
Precise instruction on the most vulnerable areas of the dog;
Direction of the clipper flow at each particular part of the dog;
Demonstrations on what should not be done and why.
Dog safety and public safety;
Dog Health
Dog handling and how to identify behaviours e.g.: submissiveness; fear; aggression and pain
Account keeping; customer service; marketing and diary management
Where available, franchisees are also required to complete a Certificate TAFE course in clipping and grooming.
