This Policy applies only to The Franchise Group Pty Ltd and HydroDog Australia Pty Ltd and its master franchisees.

The Policy outlines the obligations of these parties in managing personal information we hold about clients, potential and current franchisees and others.

These parties are bound by the National Privacy Principles (NPPs) contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act).

"Personal Information" is information or opinions relating to an individual which can be used to identify that individual.

Why does HydroDog collect personal information?
These parties collect personal information:
  • to create an effective method of communication and interaction between customers, franchisees, The Franchise Group Pty Ltd and HydroDog Australia Pty Ltd;
  • to evaluate and assess an individual's or individuals' applications to operate a franchise of The Franchise Group Pty Ltd and HydroDog Australia Pty Ltd;
  • and to meet our legal obligations should any arise.
  • Prior to collecting information from an individual, that individual is made aware of the purpose of collection and why that information is necessary. All information collected is voluntary.
  • Unless otherwise indicated, any information revealed to the public, whether it be statistical or informational, is de-identified to protect the rights of the individuals providing that information.

  • Individuals with comments or queries, whether they be in writing, verbal communications, or over the internet;
  • Prospective franchisees wishing to have their application to operate a HydroDog Australia franchise operation assessed;
  • Prospective employees, employees, contractors, suppliers of goods and/or services and others who may provide information to The Franchise Group Pty Ltd or HydroDog Australia Pty Ltd.

From whom do these parties collect information?
These parties collect personal information from the following non-exhaustive list:
  • Individuals with comments or queries, whether they be in writing, verbal communications, or over the internet;
  • Prospective franchisees wishing to have their application to operate a HydroDog Australia franchise operation assessed;
  • Prospective employees, employees, contractors, suppliers of goods and/or services and others who may provide information to The Franchise Group Pty Ltd or HydroDog Australia Pty Ltd.

What type of personal information do these parties collect?
The type of information these parties typically collects includes (but is not limited to): contact details (such as name, telephone number, address, email address, etc), basic demographics (such as age, gender, State of origin, etc.), and other more detailed information in the case of a franchise application relating to an individuals past experience, credit rating, opinions and motivations.

How is the personal information collected?
Typically, the personal information we hold will be provided by the individual directly through website or mailed correspondence or on the telephone. Again, all information provided to us is done so on a voluntary basis.

How do we use the information we collect?
We may use and disclose personal information for the primary purpose for which it was collected, for reasonably expected/inferred secondary purposes that are related to the primary purpose and in all other circumstances as may be authorised under the Privacy Act.

If a customer or other person has a comment, suggestion, or query, then their personal information will likely be used for the following purposes:
  • to communicate with such person in regard to their comment, suggestion or query;
  • to assist us to improve, better manage and enhance its products and services;
  • to provide and market product and services; and
  • as a source of potential research into market demographics of customers.

    If you fill out and send a HydroDog Australia Franchise Application, then your information will be used for the following purposes:
  • to assist us in evaluating and assessing the application;
  • to check the character of the applicant through contact with the references provided and others;
  • to assess the financial strength of the applicant through contacting credit reporting agencies and others regarding the applicant; and
  • as a source of potential research into market demographics of potential franchisees.


Personal information will only be used in compliance with the Privacy Act and will be de-identified whenever the individual's personal information is not necessary to the purpose the information is used.

To whom might we disclose the personal information?

We might disclose the personal information to the following (subject to applicability):
  • anyone to whom the individual authorises disclosure;
  • consultants, personnel agencies, credit rating companies, banks, financial institutions and other similar companies that assess the suitability and viability of potential franchisees;
  • other companies that assist us in providing or marketing our products and services to the public; and
  • officers and other authorised employees of The Franchise Group Pty Ltd or HydroDog Australia Pty Ltd and related companies of The Franchise Group Pty Ltd or HydroDog Australia Pty Ltd.
  • where disclosure is required or authorised by law eg. Government agencies as part of our statutory obligations
Management of personal information
The National Privacy Principles (NPPs) contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act) require us to take reasonable steps to protect the security of the personal information it has collected. Our staff respect the confidentiality of personal information and the privacy of individuals. We take steps to protect the personal information held by it from misuse and loss and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure, for example by use of physical security and restricted access to electronic records. Where personal information is no longer required for a permitted purpose under the NPPs, reasonable steps are taken to de-identify or destroy it.

How is personal information kept accurate and up-to-date?
We take reasonable steps to make sure that the personal information it holds is accurate, complete and up-to-date. Please contact our Privacy Officer for more information.

Do individuals have the ability to seek access to their personal information?
Subject to the exceptions set out in the Privacy Act, individuals may seek access to personal information which we hold about you by contacting the company Privacy Officer. Individuals may also request that we destroy all old or outdated personal information it holds on that individual. For security and confidentiality reasons, we will require an individual to verify their identity and to specify what information that individual requires. A fee may be charged for providing access, which will be advised in advance.

Updates to this Policy
This Policy will be reviewed from time to time to take account of new laws and technology, changes to operations and practices and the changing business environment.
